General Assembly

Amherst Room of the Campus Center, 10th floor

To All Members of MSP

It’s that time of year again when we begin to prepare for our local MSP elections. Below are two ways you can become more active in your union. Please consider each of them and then email us (msp@umass.edu) if you'd like to self-nominate or nominate someone else. Nominations will close at the end of our Spring GENERAL ASSEMBLY luncheon on: Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 12pm-1:30pm. This meeting will be held in the Amherst Room of the Campus Center, 10th floor. Kindly RSVP to reserve your lunch by 4/1/25.

1.  Be a Delegate to MTA’s Annual Meeting, May 2-3, 2025

Come and participate in a 1,000-person democratic discussion and decision-making process of important issues that affect educators in Massachusetts. The conference will be held again this year at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield.  Follow this LINK for more information about the conference.

2.  Serve as an MSP Officer or Board Member

Open slots are available for MSP officers and board members, who serve three-year terms.  These positions provide an opportunity to hold a leadership role in shaping priorities and strengthening the union. A list of candidates will be presented at MSP's General Assembly on April 10th; further nominations will be solicited at that meeting and then elected by acclamation if there are no contested seats.  The Board is the decision-making body of the union. Please email MSP if you are interested in nominating someone (including yourself).
