Good News!

Effective on the final day of Fiscal Year 2011 (6/30/11), MSP  
bargaining unit members will be receiving pay raises negotiated in our  
current contract.  These raises include a 2.25% across-the-board  
salary increase and a merit increase (for work performed during the  
period September 2006 - August 2008) from a 1.25% pool, determined by  
the standard merit process involving department personnel committees,  
deans and the Provost.  These pay increases will appear in your 7/8/11  
paycheck and because they are being paid on time, no retroactive pay  
will be necessary.

The reason that the merit is assigned for a period so long ago is that  
MSP worked to assure that all meritorious effort, even effort  
performed in years in which we got no across the board raises, would  
still, eventually, be compensated appropriately.  2006-2008 are  
considered in this raise effective July 2011, and September 2008-  
August-2010 will be included in the July 2012 raises we negotiated as  
part of our current contract.  Slowly we are catching up.
