Optical Benefit: MetLife

VisionSavings Eyecare Program

MTA’s Health and Welfare Trust Fund, which provides dental benefits to MSP members, is now offering a new vision care discount benefit through MetLife. Members and their eligible dependents can receive discounts on eye exams, eyeglasses, and contact lenses when they use participating providers such as LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, JCPenney Optical, and Target Optical, as well as many independent providers.

To find out more about the VisionSavings Eyecare Program (VSEP) and to get a list of participating providers in your area, visit MetLife's MyBenefits. The first time you sign in you'll need to enter "Massachusetts Teachers Association" in the Company Name box.  Under "Your Product and Service Options," choose the "Vision Care" icon for information on your benefits and the list of participating providers.

A Vision Care brochure is also found on the MTA Benefits website.

There are no enrollment forms to fill out and no claim forms to submit for discount eye exams and discount eyewear! All you need do is contact a participating provider to schedule an appointment and identify yourself as a VisionSavings Eyecare Program (VSEP) member, plan number 9238205 (formerly Vision One VOEP 47039). The provider will apply your discount at the time of service.

If you wish to order replacement contact lenses online, and/or to obtain an EyeMed Laser Vision Correction Discount Certificate, good for a 5% or 15% discount on LASIK or PRK procedures with preferred providers, refer to the FAQ under the "Vision Care" icon, as above, for details.

The company that administers your MetLife benefits is McKenzie & Co.  If you have any questions about McKenzie & Co., please contact UMass Amherst Human Resources
