There is a good slate running, but there are still some officer vacancies. Suggestions are welcomed. Nominations will close at end of General Assembly Thursday.
Max and John like all 4 candidates. Steve Brewer and Lori have set up an on-line evaluation form for MSP members. This is another way for MSP to influence the process. The President’s office also has a website for comments. It was decided to turn the April 23 officer meeting into an open Board meeting to evaluate the survey results and decide whether MSP should take a position. Some useful questions for the chancellor candidates were discussed,
Lori summarized the budgets and the Board voted unanimously to recommend each of them to the membership at the General Assembly.
There is a tentative agreement with the administration. Progress was made after GEO threatened to disrupt the Friends of Public Higher Education dinner.
FSU is having productive discussions, so the return to the main table has been put off until May 2. During April, we will raise awareness and build support for possible actions around the major issues. We will start with a survey, for the purposes of education and data gathering, on sabbaticals and phased retirement. Possible sites for actions in support of bargaining were discussed.
Possible topics were discussed: threats of violence on campus, obstacles in the search process, Cole’s reflections of his time as interim Chancellor. |
