Exceptional Merit Proposal Vote

Description:
ALL MEMBER MEETING on Tuesday, May 17 at 3pm in 168C Campus Center. Electronic vote Wednesday May 18 through Friday, May 20 at noon

Dear MSP members:

The MSP has received final language from the administration for their proposal to grant exceptional merit awards.  The MSP Board submits this set of proposals to the membership for a binding vote, with a mixed recommendation.  The Board vote was split  very nearly into even thirds, recommending approval, recommending against approval and recommending a vote, but without recommendation.  The final agreement depends on the results of this vote by the full MSP membership.

This issue is quite complicated and has many implications for our members, the university, faculty governance and campus morale.

The MSP is calling a meeting of ALL MEMBERS on Tuesday, May 17 at 3pm in 168C Campus Center to discuss the issues prior to the vote.  We will hold an electronic vote beginning Wednesday May 18, and concluding Friday, May 20 at noon.

The question to be asked will be:

DO YOU APPROVE THIS ADMINISTRATION PROPOSAL FOR EXCEPTIONAL MERIT AND RELATED MATTERS?  (yes/no)

[The entire package will be approved or not in a single vote.  It cannot be split.]

Please review the attached document, discuss the issues with your colleagues, and come to the meeting next Tuesday.

Most importantly, VOTE!  An email will be sent next week explaining logistics of how to do so.
