Reasons to attend

Here is why you need to be at the General Assembly on April 17, noon, Campus Center Amherst Room (10th floor).  RSVP immediately to reserve your space and your lunch!

1.      I and other members of the Chancellor Search Committee will discuss in detail the three or four finalists for the Chancellor position. This is your chance to learn about them and the process before the on-campus interviews start.

2.      You will get a full update on bargaining, the state budget, PHENOM, and other legislative initiatives, including a recent meeting with the Governor’s Chief of Staff.

3.      We will together discuss how we are going to secure good contracts in the face of daunting economic conditions and rumors of awful salary proposals.  We must educate and organize ourselves for a serious battle for a good contract:  one that includes fair economic parameters as well as improvements in areas you told us were priorities, including phased retirement, sabbaticals, startup funds and the Amherst 250 Plan.

4.      We will hear about the anti-income tax referendum and how we and the MTA are going to fight it and build for a better, more progressive tax system in this state.

5.      We will present a list of candidates (and ask for further nominations) for MSP’s board, officers and MTA delegates and seek approval for our FY09 proposed budget.

6.      The food will be good.

7.      The company will be outstanding.

RSVP right now!
