Description:
Call your state representative about increasing state revenues and blocking increases to our health insurance

Call for Action!

The Massachusetts House of Representatives will start debate on the FY10 budget on Monday, 4/27.  The Ways and Means committee proposed a budget last week that has no changes in revenue, and no spending from reserves.   As a result, huge cuts are suggested in many areas of state government.  Among the many troubling cuts is a suggestion to increase our health insurance premiums by 100%.

The only way to prevent these severe cuts is to correct the Romney-era tax cuts that have created an ongoing structural deficit for the state.

Call your state legislator.

If you don’t happen to know who your legislator is, you can find their contact information here:

Ask them to fix the revenue problem in the state.
NOTE:   There are many possibilities including the ‘telephone pole tax’, sales tax, gas tax, repeal of the film industry tax breaks, the income tax etc……   We don’t need to pick any particular one, but something has to be done.

Ask them to block the increase in our health insurance premiums.

Remind them that we had no wage increase this year, and that our work load has increased because more students are on campus than ever and many faculty and staff positions are being lost through attrition.

Come to the Rally at the Statehouse on Monday, 4/27.

We will carpool to go to a ‘Stop the Cuts’ rally on Beacon Hill to communicate our concerns and lobby legislators directly.  Contact the MSP office at 545-2206 if you are able to come.
